Non-Profit Storage Room

Every January is NAPO’s (National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals) Get Organized & Be Productive (GO) Month. This initiative “celebrates how NAPO members improve the lives of their clients by helping them create environments that support productivity, general health, and well-being”.

In January 2024, the NAPO San Diego chapter organized two community service projects and we were fortunate enough to serve in both of them along with other amazing organizers. This project was to organize the storage room of the non-profit that provide foster and other family services to children and adults in need.

The challenges

Given many of the clients the organization serves range from infants to adults, and all of their inventory comes from donation, the biggest challenge for us organizers was the wide range of items that needed to be stored both in sizes and in categories. We sorted the items by age groups and purpose and optimized the sections where items are stored. Now with all the inventory cataloged and easy to access, the Organization can focus on serving its clients.
